ME ME ME!

I was born in the Year of the Dragon... and no I'm not going to tell you which one!

The significance of this became apparent when I looked back over my activities during Dragon years. It was in a Dragon year that I first visited a Mediterranean island (the island in question being Corfu), and significantly also my first time travelling abroad alone. During the most recent Year of the Dragon (2000), with the Millennium on the horizon, I had an epihany - I don't think that's the word I'm looking for, but it looks good - while lying on a beach in Sicily, and realised that I was at my most content in the Mediterranean sunshine. Packing in work shortly afterwards, I spent the rest of the summer travelling between London and Ibiza, trying a huge number of new things for the first time (Pacha, Amnesia... I forget the rest), and constructively spending my time working with John on the gayibiza.net website - my initial involvement was, admittedly, just as a proofreader, but never being one to keep my opinions to myself, I was soon getting even more involved!

The Ibiza Boy, Dalt Vila (Pic by Oliver, 11/2002)My repeated ventures into the super-clubs that year led me to deliberately skip a flight home for the first time, solely in order to go to the closing party of La Troya Asesina! Eventually I was skipping so many flights, that I finally made a semi-permanent move to the island in 2001, in order to devote more time to my new passions.

Dancing may have been a passion for many years, and music a love for even longer, but it's only recently that I realised how they could be more than just interests. Consequently, as well as spending my summers experiencing the highs and lows of clubbing in Ibiza, I've also been writing about them for GayIbiza.net, various German and Spanish magazines, and this, my own very personal website, which in turn has led to me writing about the London clubscene for first DiscoDamaged.com, and more recently SeenQueen.com.

Ibiza is undeserving of much of the bad publicity it attracts, and I hope with this site to redress the balance. If you've not been yet, maybe it's time you paid Ibiza a visit?
