Space Website: matineegroup.com Barcelona's party boys were such a hit with their Thursday morning parties at Space in 2001, that when they had to make way for La Troya in 2002, they simply moved over to the weekends, and replaced their own party Café Olé as Space's Saturday morning attraction. Confirming that the best after-parties are the gay ones, the beautiful Matinée boys blitzed the island, handing out free wristbands to boys on the gay beach on Friday mornings, and down Calle de la Virgen on Friday nights, ensuring that the venue was always full on Saturdays though till its 4pm close. In 2003, Matinée Group was the busiest gay party at Space, popular with all discerning clubbers, though work meant I didn't usually arrive till the afternoon most weeks! In 2004 and 2005 the party grew to become one of Space's most successful attractions, and the 2005 closing party filled the main room and BOTH terraces (there are two terraces now, in case you're wondering). The above picture was taken at 2005's closing party, easily one of the best of the summer. In 2006, the Matinée Group phenomenom continued unabated, reaching a pinacle at the closing party which took us from dawn to dusk for the first time, once again the most successful daytime party on the island...
