Pics from the first La Troya day of 2004... Except the main one, which has just been sent in by New York's Badmike1973. Still wish you were there Michael?
Having first ventured down there in 2001 to little fanfare, but lots of feedback (it seems me, Jon and Jaz had conga'd our way in from Space, or something along those lines), it was while looking for Simon after Space one afternoon that me and Des stumbled back into this particular den of iniquity. We found Si, shell-shocked and cradling a pint of beer in the sunshine, and experienced a transformation akin to Saul on the road to Damascas (old Bing Crosby/Bob Hope movie, ask your parents), and immediately became Bora-Bora converts...
Ended up spending more time at Bora-Bora during the latter half of the summer than anywhere else, as not only was it the perfect place to stop off at on your way home from Space, it was just as perfect a place to call into for lunch or an afternoon boogie even when you hadn't been out the night before.
Among the many highlights from the summer, one of the most memorable was sitting chatting with Manumission DJ Alfredo after one of the first Carry Ons of the season. I'm told the 8 or so hours spent there on my birthday were equally good fun, but I can only recall a few snippets of the days events... by all accounts, I'm the lucky one!
On the last Saturday of Bora-Bora in October, me and Des went for a final beer and a boogie, while Colin Peters quite literally played the soundtrack to the entire summer. With memories of friends made, especially my lunatic frenchman Christian, and tables danced on, I was close to tears... So I made the mistake of telling Colin at the end of his set, at which point I burst out crying. It's amazing how emotional you can get over a few beers and a plate of chips as the season draws to a close.

Just to be there as people start to drift in from either clubs or nights asleep, and the music starts to lift you, and the tables are pulled together and everyone's smiling... Seriously, everyone's smiling, even the hard-working bar staff and ever-present security... A great leveller, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
